Pastors – please ensure that you all your Church personnel are current with their training and background check. All current Church personnel must maintain an active CPC. Re-certification may be completed at any time prior to the expiration of the existing CPC, based on the Initial Training date. Those whose CPC expired before August 31, 2025, are granted a grace period until September 30, 2025. Re-certification includes completing the training, submitting to a new background check, and signing a recommitment to the Code of Conduct. All active priests, deacons, and seminarians must complete the re-certification session by September 15, 2025, regardless of their current certification status.

For all parishioners that have been notified by email that they must recertify their ethics and integrity training, the local training will be at St.Leo’s Church  hall 

on Friday, September 26, 2025.

Training in English will be 5.00 p.m to 6.30 p.m

Training in Spanish will be 7.00 p.m to 8.30 p.m

All registrations for these classes must be made on line through the Virtus website using your personal sign-on information and password.

Other class times are also available on the website but will be at locations other than St.Leo’s.

Registration and Training:
Individuals can register for VIRTUS training sessions through the diocese's website or VIRTUS Online. 

All those who engage in ministry in the Diocese of Tyler must have a Church Personnel Certification (CPC) in the diocese. The CPC includes training, a criminal background check, and commitment to the diocesan Code of Conduct for Church Personnel. The CPC is required for all employees and other volunteers who will be working with minors or vulnerable adults. A CPC is valid for three years.
